High precision machining for spine surgery

or

Machining of complex instruments with challenging geometries for spine surgery

Spine implantology is a segment of orthopaedic surgery as important as hip and knee in terms of economic impact.

Materials used for screws is normally titanium, while the other components are plastic-made (polyethylene and similar).

Instrumentation for spine fixation is quite characteristic. Compared to hip and knee, the surgeon works with much more tubular instruments like screwdrivers, drill bits, drill guides, inserters, probes, benders, awl and so on. The AISI 630 the most adopted material; other stainless steels like AISI 420B, AISI 420MOD, Custom 465 and X15TN are often used too.

Valtecne has been manufacturing spine surgery instruments since 2018. The company has produced thousands of parts, including very complex instruments with challenging geometries like tight-tolerance deep holes.

Examples of parts:

  • Screwdrivers
  • Drill bits and guides
  • Handles and impactors
  • Trial instruments
  • Curette
